Competent Communication within a Particular Context

A competent communicator is determined as an individual who is able to illustrate the relevant communicative behavior in a given situation, and at the same time, having the enthusiasm to exhibit this competence (Spitzberg & Cupach, 1984).

Admittedly, the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education in my country – Mrs. Girlyn Miguel, is no exception of being called a competent communicator. For that reason, the Ministry of Education hosted the Annual Schools’ Independence Rally on Thursday 27th October, 2013, at the Victoria Park, and the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education, delivered the featured address at the event.
Indeed, Mrs. Miguel is naturally eligible or fit to speak to, and has adequate mastery to pass on information in an easy to comprehend way, that does not distort the original information. Specifically, she gets her concept across with clarity, accuracy, coherence, expertise, and appropriateness. Moreover, this competence has derived from the advancement of the requisite qualities, such as empathy, sensitivity, commitment, and good faith, flexibility and adeptness.
Obviously, I would like to model some of my own communication behaviors after Mrs. Girlyn Miguel, since I will be able to exhibit the appropriate communicative behavior in any given situation, and at the same time display assertiveness, responsiveness, and versatility.

  1. She sounds like an inspiring role model. Good communicators have that affect on others-the ability to inspire!
